Ministries in our Pastoral Area

Parish Pastoral Council works with the pastor to set and implement goals for the parish. Members are selected through a nominating process each spring and serve a 3 year term. Contact Craig Stratton at 352-3822.

Finance Council meets monthly to work with the pastor to administer the parish finances. Contact Tom Meyer at 392-8739.

Counters work with the parish bookkeeper to sort, count Sunday offerings on rotating 6-8 week schedule. Contact Suzy Wilcox at  352-5481.

PFUN (Parish Family Unification Network) promotes unity, fellowship through social events (annual Fish Fry, Strawberry Social, pancake breakfast); meets monthly in members homes; welcomes new members and one event helpers. Contact Martha Kopcienski at 352-8829.

Reaching Out Ministry Advisory Group plans and coordinates outreach to homebound and sick parishioners; provides special liturgies related to this group of parishioners; meets monthly. Contact Deacon Tom Driscoll at 352-5481.

Reaching Out Ministry Volunteers provide service to sick, bereaved, homebound; offer visits, transportation for appointments, temporary light housekeeping, meals, respite care, grocery shopping, yard work. Contact Deacon Tom Driscoll at 352-5481.

Prayer Chain takes prayer requests of any concern from the parish family, calls those on chain. Requests may be submitted in the Sunday offering basket, at the Parish Center , or by calling Pastoral minister’s office. To join the chain, call or submit your name to Sue Decker at 352-8997.

Lazarus Ministry provides an opportunity for families to gather with friends and family in the Parish Center after a funeral. Parishioners participate by providing a meal and service at that time; register for the days they are available, contribution they can offer. Contact Gerry Ammering at 352-6381.

Son-shine Club sends greeting cards regularly to the sick, bereaved, homebound; meets monthly (2nd Friday morning). At home members write monthly to the same homebound. Cards/postage supplied. Contact Deacon Tom Driscoll at 352-5481.

Social Ministry facilitates and encourages parish involvement in community service agencies and projects that focus on the corporal works of mercy; works to educate and advocate on ethical and social justice issues; meets in the Parish Center on the second Sunday of each month after the 9:30am Mass. Wish List is an activity of Social Ministry; collects used furniture and household items for distribution to the needy or organizations that minister to them. People with trucks are often needed. Contact Dick Gallagher 352-0834.

Food Cupboard is a monthly collection to help supply the Spencerport Ecumenical Food Shelf, held on the third Sunday of each month. Contact Dick Gallagher 352-0834.

Cartons for Christmas is an ecumenical drive to provide food and gifts for needy families in the Spencerport area. Helpers collect, sort, baskets from Thanksgiving until delivery the week before Christmas. Contact Glenn / Maureen Granger at 352-3119.

Thanksgiving Appeal is a Diocesan Fund Drive to support diocesan ministries. Volunteers prepare mailings and follow up with calls to some parishioners from October through December. Contact Bob Lutrario at 352-0060.

Interfaith Action is a community organizing group that listens to concerns in the area and organizes appropriate responses; meets the first Wednesday of each month in the Martha House . Contact Dave Hodder at 352-4462.

St. Peter’s Kitchen volunteers prepare and serve lunch to needy people at St. Peter’s kitchen in Rochester every month on the third Friday. Contact Edith / Tom Crookes at 352-5301.

Communications Committee works to promote interchanges among parishioners and participation in parish life, by providing materials and avenues to communicate needs and resources, hosting coffee hours, welcoming newcomers, publicity, and media contacts. Contact Chris Kincaid or Pam Cooper.

Newsletter is published and mailed to all registered parishioners four times a year. Contact Mike Burke at 352-5752.

Small Faith Sharing Groups (Small Christian Communities) provide opportunities for parishioners to share their faith experiences, reflect on them in light of scripture, pray, and actively bring Jesus’ love to their everyday lives. Some groups meet weekly; some less often. A core Group organizes materials and support; meets monthly. (View Pamphlet). Contact Cheryl Freeman at 352-9519.

Building and Grounds Committee coordinates work needed for the maintenance and repair of parish buildings and properties. Contact Craig Stratton at 352-3822. View website.

Cemetery Committee administers and takes care of St. John’s Cemetery. Contact Eileen Magin at 352-4171.

Knights of Columbus is a regional benevolent organization who meet in the PAC Room. Contact Luke Bernier at 352-0320.

Religious Shoppe volunteers staff the South Union St. shop which sells a wide variety of religious articles and books at discount prices. Contact Barb DiVincenzo at 352-5485.
